Fall Habits that Put People First

Oct 10, 2022 9:31:44 AM / by Local First

Fall is a magical time in Michigan. A chill has settled into the air, leaves are starting to turn and pumpkin spice lattes are here! It’s a great time to enjoy Michigan’s bounty by picking apples at local orchards, visiting pumpkin patch farms, walking corn mazes and so much more.

The change of season also marks a change of pace. The days are shortening and we soak up the cozy season to prepare for the cooler months ahead. We also "begin to anticipate the celebrations and gatherings with loved ones." (Very Well Mind).

While establishing these cozy Fall rhythms, consider local shifts that will prepare you for the winter to come while making a local impact. The businesses in our directory work toward a circular economy – keeping our money close to home, creating jobs, and taking leaps of faith to bring unique and high-quality products and services to our community. And they need all of us.

We cannot build a local economy that puts people first without YOU. Your dollars act as a vote for the type of place you want. They are small and sustainable shifts in day-to-day rhythms; singular actions that build people first habits.

Here are four ways you can build these habits:
